Rome City Schools Names Dr. Eric L. Holland Superintendent

ROME, GA— The Rome City Schools board members met Tuesday during a called board meeting to discuss hiring the new superintendent of Rome City Schools.

In a unanimous vote by the Board, Dr. Eric. L. Holland has been named Superintendent, effective September 3, 2022.

 Holland, an educator with 23 years of experience, most recently served as principal of Rome High School in Rome, Ga. and Marietta High School in Marietta, Ga.

 Holland has previously worked as an administrator with Tift County High School in Tifton, Ga. and was once named Teacher of the Year at Crossroads Academy in Americus.

 He holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in education, both from Georgia Southwestern State University. He earned his doctorate in leadership in educational administration from Capella University. Holland also holds multiple educational specialist degrees from the University of Georgia, Capella University and Albany State University.

 He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.

 Holland replaces former superintendent Louis Byars who retired on May 31, 2021. Byars served in the role for five years.
