Rome Middle School

Rome City Schools invites all rising fifth, sixth, and seventh-grade students and their families to tour the new Rome Middle School facility during our upcoming transition meetings. These events are scheduled from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM each evening, with fifth grade visiting on May 5, sixth grade on May 6, and seventh grade on May 7. Each session will begin in the Performing Arts Center with an introductory overview and transition meeting. Following the presentation, families will be assigned a group number and paired with a leader for a guided tour of the building. This will also serve as an opportunity to learn about our commemorative brick program, where you can purchase a personalized brick for the school grounds or your own office to mark this historic milestone. We look forward to seeing you there.

Ms. Lindsey, principal of East Central Elementary, is sending a shout out to Rome Middle School students giving back to their community! Members of the RMS basketball team volunteered their time to play basketball with ECES students as part of the school's 50th anniversary celebration!

Our staff member of the month is Nurse Hudson, and the exemplary student of the month is 8th grader, Poetry Monroe. The Rome Middle Academic Team recently traveled to Tifton to compete in the state championship, where they faced off against some of the top middle school teams from across Georgia. Demonstrating impressive knowledge, teamwork, and quick thinking, the team tackled a wide range of challenging trivia questions spanning multiple subjects.

After several intense rounds of competition and fierce matchups, Rome Middle rose to the top—ultimately earning the title of State Champions! Their hard work, dedication, and academic excellence paid off as they proudly brought home the 1st place trophy. Congratulations to the team on an outstanding achievement!

March 23–27, 2026, is See Something, Say Something Week. This initiative encourages everyone to speak up if they notice something unsafe or concerning and to help create a safe and supportive school environment for all.
Throughout the week, we will focus on kindness, safety, and using our voices to support one another. Let’s all do our part—if you see something, say something!

Mr. Christian Barnes has been nominated for the Dr. Candy Norton Leadership Award through the Georgia Association of Middle School Principals (GAMSP).

This award honors exemplary middle-level leaders who embody the spirit of Dr. Candy Norton’s legacy — visionary leadership, commitment to developing others, high standards for teaching and learning, and service to the profession beyond their own school walls. It recognizes principals who lead with integrity, invest in people, cultivate strong school cultures, and contribute to the broader educational community at the district and state levels.
